A special message from the IDF Spokesperson in the lead up to the holiday; measures at crossings in Judea and Samaria eased for the benefit of local population
Earlier today (Tuesday, July 9), IDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Yoav Mordechai wished a blessed Ramadan to Israel’s Muslim citizens and Muslims around the world. He described how the month of Ramadan represents the value of co-existence, patience, love and peace and expressed hope that the month will be one of good tidings, optimism and blessings – especially for the those IDF soldiers observing the holiday.
In honor of the month of Ramadan, which begins July 10, the IDF’s Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) unit has lifted some restrictions at crossings to benefit those observing the holiday in Judea and Samaria.
Among the changes will be an extension of hours of operation at crossings for the duration of the holiday, permit-free entry into Israel for Palestinians above the age of 60, the issuing of special permits for families to visit Israel, and special licenses for foreign passport holders to visit Judea and Samaria.
