Code Red siren sounds after apparent rocket fire from Gaza

Palestinian in the Gaza Strip fired a rocket into Israel near Ashkelon overnight Friday, Israel Radio reported.

A blast was heard in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council after the "Code Red" air raid siren was sounded, an IDF spokeswoman confirmed. She could not confirm further details as a landing site remained unidentified.

No injuries or damage were reported.

Security forces were investigating the incident.

On Friday, Palestinian protesters clashed with Israeli security forces in the West Bank, Jerusalem and on the Gaza Strip border during demonstrations marking thirteen years to the second Palestinian uprising (intifada).

Meanwhile on Friday, the chief Israeli and Palestinian peace negotiators attended a meeting of the Middle East peace Quartet on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York to discuss the progress of recently-renewed peace talks.

Last Thursday, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip fired a rocket at southern Israel. The projectile triggered an air raid siren in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council area and landed in an open area near the security fence bordering Gaza.

Arab states will push ahead with a bid to single out Israel for criticism over its assumed atomic
arsenal at this week's UN nuclear agency meeting, despite Western pressure to refrain, a senior representative said on Friday. In other words they are trying to deceive the gullible UN to thinking that Israel, as well as themselves, should be treated the same, despite Israel being a democracy and they being bronzed aged barbarians.
 
Frustrated over the indefinite postponement last year of an international conference on banning atomic arms in the region, Arab states have proposed a non-binding resolution expressing concern about "Israeli nuclear capabilities".
 
We bet they are.

 

The United States said this week the move would hurt broader diplomatic efforts towards creating a Middle East zone free of weapons of mass destruction. Israel rightly said it would deal a "serious blow" to any attempt to hold regional security talks.
 
But Ambassador Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy, head of the Arab League group at the IAEA, made clear the text would not be withdrawn before a vote expected later on Friday.
 

The aim of these arabs is to disarm Israel
in preparation for attack

"The world has to know that Israel is not playing a constructive role, that Israel has a (nuclear) capability," Ramzy told Reuters.
 
So lets get this right - A gang of arabs in the nations surrounding Israel have got together and are demanding, in simple terms, that Israel give up its nuclear capabilities. In other words disarm itself. 

 These same countries have invaded Israel on a number of occasions in the past, the most memorable being the 6 Day War in 1967 when they all attacked Israel, unprovoked, with the aim of wiping the Jewish State from the face of the earth. These same countries, that by the way, occupy 96 per cent of the middle east, surrounding tiny Israel that occupies just 4 per cent of that continent, they expect that tiny country to give up its means of self defence knowing fully well that the aims of those countries since it existence has been to wipe it out.
 
Pull the other one! 
 
Meanwhile the Nazi government in Iran this week said Israel's nuclear activities "seriously threaten regional peace and security".
 
This coming despite Iran over the last few years calling for Israel's destruction, not forgetting denying the holocaust and even actively arming Israel's terrorists enemies.
 
World powers agreed in 2010 to an Egyptian plan for an international meeting to lay the groundwork for creating a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction.
But the United States, one of the big powers to co-sponsor the meeting, said late last year it would not take place as planned last December and did not suggest a new date.
 
Arab diplomats said they refrained from putting forward the resolution on Israel at the 2011 and 2012 IAEA meetings to boost the chances of the Middle East conference but it had no effect.
"We have engaged seriously and constructively in the preparations (for the conference). The Israelis have been playing for time, delaying, we have never seen enough seriousness on their part," Ramzy said.
 
Israel's atomic energy chief, Shaul Chorev, told this week's IAEA meeting that Arab states were using it as a platform for "repeatedly bashing" his country. The Arab move only deepens "existing distrust" among the region's countries, he said.
 
Our only message to the Israeli government is simple - Until the Arab nations genuinely give up their hatred of the Jewish State, stop demanding its destruction, stop committing terrorist supporting acts against Israel, clamp down of its anti-Semitic rhetoric, stop brainwashing their children that Jews should be wiped out, stop funding organisations that actively train and commit terrorists attacks on Israel, amongst a lot of things - then Israel should and must have a nuclear deterrent as well as a strong conventional deterrent to protect itself from the above.

Rocket attack on eve of Sukkot as the those that constantly demand respect show lack of it for the Jewish holidays

IDF forces have found the remnants of a Qassam rocket which exploded in an agricultural field in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council Wednesday night. No injuries or damage was reported.

 At around 1 am, a Color Red siren was reportedly heard in the area, but no blast was immediately reported. 

 The renewal of rocket fire at Israel took place on the eve of Sukkot, at a time when most families are at home holding holiday dinners.

 Local residents were quick to make their way from their bedrooms to their fortified shelter rooms as the siren sounded late Wednesday night. 

 "During the first couple of seconds we contemplated going to the protective room, because there has recently been a large number of false alarms, but in the end we got up and took the kids into the shelter," a regional council resident said. 

 "It was hard to wake them, and when we did they were very confused. We have grown accustomed to quiet. Our heart was beating fast and it took a long time to calms down afterwards. 

"Obviously, it ruins the holiday, but we will keep sitting in the Sukkah, and if there is need we'll run to the shelter," she added. 

Wednesday night's rocket came after more than a month of relative quiet in the area. The last rocket that fell in the region exploded in Sderot but did not cause any injuries or damages.

 What a way for families to live, especially on their holidays. Its a pity that those in the arab countries surrounding Israel and those arabs that live within Israel didn't show the same respect they demand for themselves. They constantly whine, whinge, demand and insist that Israel bends over backwards to show them respect, yet when the tables are turned they show none in return.

Oh and as usual there's scant news of this in the western media - well some things never change do they?

Breaking: Rockets Fired From Southern Lebanon Over Israel’s North

Iron Drome

A short time ago, civilians in Israel’s northern region faced rocket fire from Southern Lebanon. Three or four rockets were fired over Israeli territory. One of the rockets was intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system between the northern Israeli cities of Acre and Nahariya. The remainder of the rockets of fell outside of Israeli territory.
 
 There were no immediate reports of casualties. The red alert siren sounded in the cities Nahariya, Acre, Kiryat Shmona and Karmiel, and residents reported hearing explosions.

Lebanese media reported that the IDF promptly retaliated, attacking targets in south Lebanon, but the army denied those reports.

An Israeli Iron Dome battery intercepted one of the rockets. Israeli TV aired footage of minor damage caused by a fragment from the rocket that fell on the outskirts of a town outside Nahariya. It was initially unclear where the other three rockets fell.

 

Damage caused by the blasts

Several residents were treated for shock.

Lebanese media reported that two volleys of rockets had been fired from a Palestinian refugee camp near the Lebanese town of Tyre. There was an attempt to fire a third volley, but the missiles fell short of the border. The IDF said four makeshift rocket launchers had been located east of Tyre.

 

IDF sources said they regarded the incident as a one-off attack by a jihadist group rather than the beginning of a wider campaign. The army also called on northern residents to remain close to bomb shelters, though they could otherwise go back to their normal routines.

 

A resident of Kibbutz Evron, near Nahariya, told Ynet that the alarm sounded after “two booms” were heard, and that the residents quickly moved into bomb shelters.

 

“I heard booms,” a resident of Nahariya told Channel 2. “Everyone is in the bomb shelters.”

He said that residents hadn’t heard alarms for seven years — since the 2006 Second Lebanon War.

 

“I was on the phone to my grandma” when the alarms rang out. “I put down the phone and went down to the shelter,” he said.

 

There were reports Wednesday in Lebanon that Israeli helicopters had circled in the south of the country.

 

There were several reports in the past year of attempts to fire rockets into Israel from southern Lebanon. In November, during Israel’s brief round of fighting with Hamas in Gaza, Lebanese army forces operating in the town of Marjaayoun, about 10 kilometers north of the border, found and disarmed several rockets aimed at Israel.

 

One of four rockets fired from Lebanon into northern Israel

Rockets are a key tactic of the Lebanese Hezbollah and other terror groups on Israel’s northern and southern borders.

 

Thousands of projectiles fell on Israel during the Second Lebanon War in the summer of 2006, and Hezbollah has since stockpiled tens of thousands of rockets it has said will be launched at Israeli cities in future fighting.

 

Israel last week deployed a sixth Iron Dome battery north of Tel Aviv, with an eye to the missile threat from the north.

 

The anti-missile system is a keystone of Israel’s air defense array and successfully intercepted hundreds of short- and medium-range missiles shot at Israeli cities during the conflagration in Gaza in November.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

UN yet AGAIN takes sides AGAINST Israel as the UN rights chief challenges US and Israel on drones. We wonder when the UN will be concerned over rocket attacks against Israel or the murder of civilians world wide by Islamists?

     Navi Pillay told a UN Security Council meeting Monday on protection of civilians that "the current lack of transparency surrounding their use creates an accountability vacuum and affects the ability of victims to seek redress."

Pity they weren't as interested in the protection of Israeli civilians as rockets come in from Gaza or other innocents around the world murdered in the name of our enemies?

Pillay said she is "seriously concerned about human rights implications for the protection of civilians of armed drone strikes carried out in the context of counter-terrorism and military operations including in Pakistan, Yemen and Gaza."
 
"I urge relevant states to clarify the legal basis for such strikes as well as the safeguards in place to ensure compliance with applicable international law," Pillay said.
