IDF soldiers shoot and reportedly kill suspected terrorists attempting to damage Gaza fence

Group of possible terrorist suspects enter closed security zone and begin sabotaging security fence, despite challenges from soldiers.


IDF soldiers fired on Palestinian suspects who approached a closed security zone on the border between northern Gaza and Israel on Thursday, and attempted to damage the fence.

Palestinian sources said that one man was killed and another wounded in the incident.

An army spokeswoman said a group of suspects entered the zone and began sabotaging the security fence, and that soldiers dispatched to the area attempted to persuade them to leave.

The conducted themselves professionally and after challenging then and trying to get then away, the soldiers opened fire, striking one or possibly two suspects. 

The Palestinian men then evacuated the area on their own.

According to the Palestinian Ma'an News Agency, Ibrahim Suleiman Mansour, 26, was the man killed by the IDF fire.

The second man, a 21-year-old, suffered moderate wounds to his right foot in the incident, according to Ma'an.

Israeli soldiers are constantly getting fired upon from the fence and surrounding areas.
