IDF soldier stabbed to death in suspected terror attack

An IDF soldier was stabbed to death in a suspected terror attack on a bus at Afula's central bus station on Wednesday morning.

The suspect, a Palestinian, was apprehended and is in the custody of authorities.

The attack occurred on a bus that was traveling from Nazareth to Afula as it was entering the Afula central bus station.MDA paramedics transferred the victim to the Emek Medical Center in Afula in critical condition. He underwent surgery, but eventually succumbed to his wounds

Passengers on the bus were able to subdue the attacker and deliver him into the custody of security personnel at the bus station.

Police stated that the suspect is a 16-year-old Palestinian from the West Bank city of Jenin that had been illegally residing in Israel. He was being interrogated by security authorities.

According to police, the suspect confessed to police under questioning, saying that he carried out the attack to avenge several of his relatives who are serving time in Israeli prisons.

Northern District Police raised the level of alert at central bus stations and other areas with high concentrations of people in the region following the attack.

Palestinian suspects admit to West Bank murder of IDF reserve colonel

Security forces arrested several Palestinians suspected of involvement in the murder of IDF reserve colonel Sraya Ofer outside his home in the northern Jordan Valley overnight Thursday, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) said in a statement Sunday.

On Saturday, security forces arrested three residents of the Palestinian village of Deir Samat, located near Hebron.

The Shin Bet said it was interrogating Odeh Farid Taleb Harob, 18, and Bashir Achmed Odeh Harob, 21, on suspicion of committing the murder.

According to investigators, the suspects said they had been at the murder victim's house two weeks ago, and admitted to having committed the murder.
 

Investigations remained ongoing and the authorities were reviewing motives for the murder.
According to the Shin Bet, security forces identified a number of findings during sweeps following the attack, including a murder weapon, as verified by forensic testing.

Ofer's partner, Monique Omer, said the couple, both in their 50's, had heard noises outside their home, in the eastern West Bank. Upon leaving the house to investigate, the man was attacked and killed by what the woman said were two Palestinians wielding an ax and iron bars.
