Palestinian Arabs Rally Against Talks with Israel

Mr. Kerry so much for the fake palestinians wanting peace.  I think you know what they want....  ALL Jews out of Israel....  don't you.

Leftist PA-based groups organize rallies against peace talks and against Kerry's proposal for a framework.

Palestinian Arabs on Saturday held demonstrations in opposition to peace negotiations with Israel and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry's framework proposal that will serve as the basis for future negotiations.

The Bethlehem-based Ma’annews agency reported that the demonstrations were organized by leftist groups in the Palestinian Authority (PA) and were held in Hevron and Shechem.

The demonstrations claimed Kerry’s proposals were intended to "liquidate the question of Palestine and prolong the Israeli occupation."

Kerry is expected to announce a framework proposal to guide ongoing negotiations between Israel and the PA within the coming days.

The rally in Hevron kicked off in front of al-Hussein Ibn Ali football stadium, reported Ma’an. Demonstrators carried PLO flags and flags of leftist factions, alongside signs denouncing the "pressure" the United States and Israel are putting on the PA to accept negotiations.

A member of the central committee of the Palestinian People's Party, Fahmi Shahin, delivered a speech during the rally, calling upon the Palestinian Authority to "immediately stop peace negotiations and to reject the U.S. sponsorship to these talks."

The American proposals “to accept the Israeli occupation as a fact must be rejected," he added.

Shahin urged the PA to reject any move to recognize Israel as a Jewish state and called upon its leadership to demand the implementation of the so-called “right of return” of Palestinian refugees. Doing so would flood Israel with millions of Arabs.

In Shechem, reported Ma’an, hundreds attended a rally in which they condemned Kerry's proposed framework agreement and what they claimed was the “U.S. bias in favor of Israel”.

A member of the political bureau of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Ramzi Rabah, said that Kerry's repeated visits to the region have served as a way to give Israel more time to continue settlement activities, in the process imposing a new status quo that is “destroying the possibility of an independent Palestinian state with its capital in Jerusalem.”

Rabah added that the framework agreement represents a great danger that has been rejected by the Palestinian people as being inconsistent with their national rights.

He further claimed that the agreement is a cover to allow Israel “to speed up the processes of settlement and the Judaization of Jerusalem.”

The rallies took place in the wake of continued talks between Israel and the PA, which have so far not accomplished much despite Kerry’s never-ending optimism.

Several days ago, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said that despite Kerry’s efforts, the PA has so far gotten nothing out of the ongoing peace negotiations with Israel.

Abbas blamed “the Israeli side” for the lack of progress in the peace talks, slamming Israeli residents of Judea and Samaria as "invaders" with "no right to Palestinian land”.

Abbas also stressed that Palestinian Arabs living inside what is now Israel "were on the land 1,500 years before Israel was established."

The PA’s chief negotiator Saeb Erekat declared on Tuesday that the PAwill not agree to extending peace talks even a day beyond the nine-month framework. Talks began last July and are set to expire in April.

Abbas has consistently declared that unless all his demands are met, there will never be peace with Israel. He has also made clear several times that the future Palestinian state will have no Israeli presence whatsoever. The last time he stated this was during his meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper last week.

IDF Battalion Commander: It's The Same Palestinians Rioting Week After Week

Lt.-Col. Embon recalls recent tractor attack on his Ramallah-area base, rules out impending 3rd intifada, saying weekly-occurring riots are not a sign things are heating up, adds terror attacks are carried out by “lone-wolves.”

Many senior IDF officers reject speculation that a third intifada could soon break out, while acknowledging a limited upsurge in Palestinian attacks throughout the West Bank.

Lt.-Col. Eyal Embon, commander of the Artillery Corps’ 411th Battalion, is stationed at an IDF base near Ramallah.

Palestinians often riot there, and the base itself came under attack on October 17 when a Palestinian driving a bulldozer smashed his way through the gate and tried to run down soldiers.

“I don’t think things are heating up. Riots occur on a weekly basis, regularly, usually on a Thursday night and Friday afternoons,” Embon told The Jerusalem Post over the weekend.

“Usually, I can tell it’s the same people who take part. They’re young guys, not members of the older population. The terror attacks are being carried out by lone-wolves,” he said. “I don’t think we’re headed toward an intifada. It’s the same crowd coming back every week. There are other Palestinians who are opposed to it, and want to live quietly.”

Embon’s battalion has been stationed in the West Bank for seven months, and its members have been dealing with riots in nearby Beitunya and in the Kalandiya area, as well as in the adjacent town of a-Ram, just north of Jerusalem’s Neveh Ya’acov neighborhood.

“We’re some sort of enclave inside all this,” he said.

“Many incidents break out on Thursday nights, from firebombings to rock-throwing, against us and the [Israeli] population we protect in this area,” Embon said.

Last week, soldiers shot and killed Yunis Obaidi, from Jerusalem’s Beit Hanina neighborhood, after he repeatedly tried to run over soldiers in Embon’s base.

In March 2009, Obaidi’s brother, construction worker Marei Radaydeh, tried to run over two policemen in a patrol car near the Malha Mall, on Menachem Begin Boulevard in southern Jerusalem, with a bulldozer. Police and an armed taxi driver killed him. The two officers were lightly wounded.

Embon noted that his base is located near a busy road near Kalandiya, with many vehicles passing through. Usually, drivers who mistakenly pull up at the base turn around.

Last week, “the tractor stood opposite the gate, unloaded its digger, and waited for someone to arrive. The regimental policeman [who guards the gate] came over to check him out,” Embon said.

“When the soldier was a few meters away, the tractor driver hit the gas and tried to run him over. He managed to escape. The tractor continued toward the gate, which is made out of iron and is very strong, but can’t withstand a tractor. The vehicle entered the gate, and closed in on a soldier, brushing against him and sending him flying. He then entered the base and turned into a parking lot, before smashing into a battalion truck,” the lieutenant-colonel said.

At this point, a munitions officer and two soldiers who were in a car exited their vehicle and aimed their weapons at the terrorist.

“They saw Arabic signs on the tractor and the damage, and realized he had come to kill,” Embon said. “A soldier and the munitions officer both opened fire, shooting the terrorist dead.”

In recent months, the 411th Battalion has played a central role in dispersing Palestinian rioters. In August, men from the unit formed part of a force that shot dead three rioters seeking to attack soldiers.

“We’ve got a lot of experience in the West Bank. But our central mission is to maintain battle readiness, to be prepared for war. In a conflict, we would fire artillery and provide assistance to other forces. We have to be ready for that, and to do that, we take part in exercises with other forces. We can leave our sector, take part in a drill, fire [artillery], and then come back,” Embon sIaid.
