Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas prime minister, declared on Hamas Al-Aqsa TV that:
“These summer camps emphasize that the Islamic enterprise, the Palestinian enterprise and the human Arabic enterprise are on the rise, in a state of renewal and in a state of victory, great and powerful, and that the Zionist enterprise is in its regression, decline and weakening, along with all of its allies and those who stand at its side. There is no future for the Zionist entity on the soil of Palestine. I say that it does not suffice to say that we do not recognize Israel. Rather, we say this with a shout and as a slogan during the summer camps [of the ‘Generation] of Return’: There is no future for Israel on the soil of Palestine!”
Hamas’ latest project has Gaza’s children training in Jihad throughout their summer vacation. The new summer camp program for Gaza’s youth has been launched under the banner of "Generation of Return”.
A senior Hamas official confirmed that the camps aim to build a generation armed with Islamic values and to instil Hamas’ fundamentalist brand of educational and nationalist ethos in the youth of Gaza. The camps will take place over two weeks, with four hours of activities each day.
At a special press conference in Gaza City, senior Hamas figure Khalil Al-Hayya said:
“"We aim through these camps to connect the key-of-return to their hearts and to indoctrinate the youth to return to occupied Palestine.
He also stressed that “this generation will liberate Palestine and will not give up Jerusalem.”
The Hamas Minister of Youth and Sports in Gaza, Mohammed Madhoun, added:
"Our souls today leave our towns and villages to join these camps, bearing a return address, to emphasize the profound implications toward our land."
