No Palestinian state without east Jerusalem as its capital, no recognition of Israel as a Jewish state, says Abbas spokesman.

The Palestinian Authority won’t accept anyframework agreement that does not accept the Palestinian and Arab positions, which are based on international legitimacy, presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudaineh said on Thursday.

Abu Rudaineh’s remarks came as PA President Mahmoud Abbas and US Secretary of State John Kerry met in Paris for the second time in 24 hours to discuss the latter’s proposed framework agreement between Israelis and Palestinians.

Kerry had set nine months for the two sides to complete the peace talks. PLO Ambassador to France Hayel Fahoum said that Kerry proposed extending the peace talks with Israel for several months.

The deadline expires in late April.

Fahoum told the Voice of Palestine radio station that Abbas did not oppose the idea of extending the peace talks, on condition that real progress is achieved.

Fahoum said that Kerry still hasn’t presented Abbas with a draft of a framework agreement. He said that the discussions focused on “certain ideas.”

Abu Rudanieh, reiterated Abbas’s “firm and permanent” position regarding any agreement with Israel, saying there would be no Palestinian state without east Jerusalem as its capital and no recognition of Israel as a Jewish state.

Abbas’s positions, that all settlements are illegitimate, that a Palestinian state should be established on the pre-1967 lines, that all Palestinians be released from Israeli prisons and that the issue of the refugees be solved in a just way, were also restated.

Abu Rudaineh said that Abbas clearly relayed his position to Kerry during their discussions in Paris.

A PA official in Ramallah said that Abbas had sent two letters to US President Barack Obama since last December, outlining the Palestinian position regarding a peace agreement with Israel The official said that Abbas made it clear in his letters that the issue of the refugees should be solved on the basis of UN General Assembly Resolution 194, while granting them the right to choose whether they want to return to Israel, live in the pre-1967 lines, stay where they are today, move to another country or receive compensation.

Abbas’s letters to Obama said that Israel must withdraw from all the “1967 occupied territories in line with UN [Security Council] Resolution 242.” He also demanded the establishment of a sovereign and independent Palestinian state in accordance with UN General Assembly Resolution 181, with the possibility of land swaps.

Abbas also insisted that east Jerusalem become the capital of a Palestinian state and that no settlements remain in a future Palestinian state, the official said.

Abbas did not rule out the possibility that a third party would be deployed to maintain security for Palestinians and Israelis.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas , saying "It is absurd to think that in an agreement in which we will recognize the nation-state of the Palestinian people they will not recognize the Jewish state."

Earlier Monday, Abbas gave an interview to the New York Times in which he rejected the possibility of recognizing Israel as a Jewish state, and adumbrated the Palestinian position regarding US-brokered peace talks.

Abbas "was quoted as saying he would not be willing to accept the Jewish state and this is while he knows there will be no (peace) deal without recognition of (Israel as) the nation-state. It's absurd," Netanyahu said.

 

Regarding a possible economic boycott, Netanyahu said that "the same international forces pressuring Israel should be pressuring the Palestinian Authority and clarify what the ramifications of failing to reach a peace agreement would be for the Palestinians."

 

Netanyahu concluded that "no pressure will force us to give up Israel vital interests, primarily the safety of Israeli citizens."

 

Security has no price

Economy Minister Naftali Bennett commented on the threat of a potential economic boycott of Israel should peace talks fail.

 

"There is no price for our security and that of our children's. Not even a billion dollars will bring back a child killed by a Palestinian rocket."

 

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has been surprisingly quiet in recent days as the US and Israel have been verbally battling over the potential threat of a boycott on Israel should US-brokered peace talks fail.

 

Monday he broke his silence and warned Washington as well as leftist elements in Israel: Calm down, there is no need to be hysterical.

 

"For three days I have seen reports quoting a senior Foreign Ministry official claiming there is no way to stop the boycott, and that the political echelon is indecisive and afraid to cope.

 

I think I know who the official is, and there is a clear and concise plan on how to deal with the boycott in the Foreign Ministry. There is complete cooperation with all the relevant offices in regards to how to deal with the boycott. Within a month to a month and a half we will have clarified our approach."

 

History of boycotts

Lieberman was quick to note, as well, that this wasn't the first time Israel had to deal with something like this.

 

"There was a boycott in 1921 by the arabs and in 1945 the arab League decided to boycott all jewish business," he said. "Renault stopped dealing with Israel in 1959 because of a boycott and Arab pressure."

 

Lieberman also said that whoever remembers the French embargo in 1967 will also remember how Israel's military and aviation industries flourished during that period.

 

"The embargo had the opposite effect."

 

The oil embargo after the 1973 Yom Kippur Warwas also difficult, Lieberman said, but Israel survived.

 

"Only during the 1990s did we start getting Japanese cars," he said. "Other than Subaru, we didn't have any Japanese cars. And neither did we have Pepsi. We've dealt with boycotts for the length of all of our history."

 

Sailors take warning

Justice Minister Tzipi Livni spoke out against the criticism of Israel, in part in due to US Secretary of State John Kerry's remarks.

 

"Israelis or Americans who tell us to pay attention to security threats or other threats of isolation don't scare us, they're just defining the threats," she said. "If someone goes out to sea and his friend tells him there will be a storm he's not threatening him he's warning him because he's worried for him."

 

Livni also attacked the right, saying Kerry has only helped silence the calls for boycotts.

 

Abbas also said NATO troops, led by the Americans, should be responsible for the security of a future Palestinian state, he said in a New York Times interview. He also claimed that their deployment could be for an indefinite amount of time.

Abbas now wants to be 'Occupied' : is this guy on drugs?

Here's an interesting development:

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has suggested that a US-led NATO force remain in the West Bank and east Jerusalem in a future Palestinian state in order to ensure Israel's security.

Hang on, we thought, or have been told, that it's all about 'occupation' and not anti Semitism? But surely then if they're being 'occupied' at present then allowing NATO troops there would in effect be swapping one 'occupying' force for another? 

This anti Semite hate monger has proven that it's not about 'occupation' but more about his and his fellow PA Authorities inbred hatred of Jews. If this were not so and he genuinely believed it was about 'occupation' despite the FACT that it's Jewish land being disputed, he wouldn't want ANY 'foreign' power there as 'occupiers.'

The PA president said that the NATO force can stay "for a long time, and wherever they want, not only on the eastern borders but also on the western borders, everywhere ... For a long time, for the time they wish. NATO can be everywhere, why not?” he stated.

Following the withdrawal of Israeli forces, Abbas said that they should be replaced indefinitely by the NATO troops, who would secure the area along with Palestinian security forces and police. 

He states this because he knows his own shabby and third rate security would in no way be able to secure any possible future 'Palestinian' state. 

He's so insecure about his own authority that he is now requesting to be 'occupied.' 

If this wasn't real it could be a clip from a comedy.

The idiot Abbas then goes on to state:

"The Israelis are occupiers and they want to stay forever. When they say they want to stay for 40 years, it means they will not go out from our territory.”

But then this idiot requests to be 'occupied' by NATO troops compromising of armies from many nations. 

We're wondering if Abbas will want these NATO troops vetted to make sure none are Jewish? 

Is he on drugs? 

A Slap in the Face for Anti-Israel BDS Movement

Abbas's stance against the BDS campaign should serve as a wake up call to all its supporters, especially those who are not Palestinians, that negative campaigns only serve to promote hatred and extremism in the region.

Many Palestinians seem to share Abbas's view. That is why many Palestinians continue to do business with Israelis on a daily basis and continue to hold joint conferences in Israel and different parts of the world.

The international campaign for boycott, divestment and sanctions [BDS] against Israel received a slap in the face last week from Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

As BDS supporters continue to campaign against Israel around the world, Abbas, asked about his position regarding the BDS campaign at a press conference in Johannesburg, where he was attending Nelson Mandela's funeral, stated that he does not support the boycott of Israel.

It is ironic that while Abbas is saying no to a boycott of Israel, the American Studies Association, an association of U.S. professors with almost 5,000 members, voted to endorse an academic boycott of Israeli colleagues and universities.

The U.S. professors obviously do not care about what the Palestinian Authority president has to say about the boycott of Israel. The professors, like BDS supporters, apparently believe that Abbas is a "traitor" because he is conducting peace talks with Israel.

Abbas's attack on the BDS movement is a serious embarrassment for the anti-Israel activists, many of whom are not Palestinians.

The statements have enraged BDS activists worldwide, with some calling into question Abbas's right to speak on behalf of the Palestinians.

Prominent Palestinian journalist Daoud Kuttab noted that Abbas's statement in Johannesburg "naturally has angered many Palestinian and international supporters of the BDS movement."

Kuttab wrote that Abbas's statement "reflects the absence of any clear strategy from the Palestinian political leadership except for negotiations. It is unclear whether the reason behind the Palestinian leader's public attack at the BDS movement is a result of trying to protect the Palestinian elite or not wanting to anger the Israelis and their US allies."

Abbas did, however, call on people around the world to boycott products of settlements. "No, we do not support the boycott of Israel," Abbas said. "But we ask everyone to boycott the products of settlements because the settlements are in our territories. It is illegal."

Abbas's statements conflict "with the Palestinian national consensus that has strongly supported BDS against Israel since 2005," Omar Barghouti, one of the founders of BDS, told Electronic Intifada.

"There is no Palestinian political party, trade union, NGO [non-governmental organization] network or mass organization that does not strongly support BDS," Omar Barghouti continued. "Any Palestinian official who lacks a democratic mandate and any real public support, therefore, cannot claim to speak on behalf of the Palestinian people."

Salim Vally, spokesman for the Palestine Solidarity Committee in South Africa, told The Electronic Intifada that Abbas's comments were "shocking" and represented an "attack on the global solidarity movement."

The claim that Abbas does not represent the Palestinian "consensus" regarding a boycott of Israel is inaccurate. In fact, many Palestinians seem to share Abbas's view, which supports a boycott only of settlement products.

That is why many Palestinians continue to do business with Israelis on a daily business. That is also why, despite the BDS campaign, Palestinians and Israelis continue to hold joint seminars and conferences in Israel and different parts of the world.

In wake of Abbas's statements, the BDS movement should reconsider its strategy. Calls for boycotting any party do not contribute to the cause of peace. Abbas's stance against the BDS should also serve as a wake-up call to its supporters, especially those who are not Palestinians, that negative campaigns only serve to promote hatred and extremism in the region.

Abbas decorates terror leader Abu Jihad with Star of Honor: "He was themodel of a true fighter and devoted leader"

Abu Jihad was responsible for murder of 125 Israelis

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has granted a post-mortem honor to arch-terrorist Abu Jihad, who was responsible for the murder of at least 125 Israelis in numerous terror attacks that he planned, including a bus hijacking in 1978, in which 37 civilians were murdered.

Official PA TV News reported that Abbas, in order "to honor the founding leaders and the first generation of the Palestinian revolution and the PLO, and out of loyalty to their history of struggle," chose to decorate Abu Jihad with "the highest order of the Star of Honor."


At the ceremony, Abbas handed the award to Abu Jihad's wife. Secretary-General of the Presidential Office Tayeb Abd Al-Rahim read aloud the "decree" signed by Abbas, calling terrorist Abu Jihad "the model of a true fighter and devoted leader," and praising him for "his honorable national role":

"Abu Jihad shall be granted the highest order of the Star of Honor in recognition of his honorable national role and his history of struggle as one of the founding leaders of the Palestinian revolution, and out of great appreciation for his high position and significance in the defense of Palestine as a country, a nation, and a cause. He was the model of a true fighter and devoted leader [and] through his commitment and contribution he left his mark on the history of the Palestinian revolution and the PLO."

Palestinian Media Watch reported in July 2013 that Abbas decorated another terroristleader with the Star of Honor. The recipient was Nayef Hawatmeh, the leader of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP). The DFLP carried out many deadly terror attacks in the 1970s and has also participated in and claimed responsibility for dozens of other terror attacks, including a suicide bombing near Tel Aviv that killed 4 people in 2003.

Former PA PM Salam Fayyad was also among this year's recipients of the Star of Honor.

The glorification of arch-terrorist Abu Jihad is a long-standing PA and Fatah policy. Every year in April, the anniversary of Abu Jihad's death is marked with numerous events and ceremonies held in his honor.

This year, PMW reported that the official PA news agency WAFA lauded Abu Jihad as a killer of 125, listing all the terror attacks he planned and directed, specifying the number of murdered:

"Abu Jihad was killed by the Israeli Mossad in Tunisia on April 16, 1988... and was crowned the Prince of the Martyrs of Palestine... Among the military operations planned by Abu Jihad: the explosion at the Zohar reservoir in 1955; the operation to blow up the Israeli National Water Carrier in 1965; the operation at the Savoy Hotel in Tel Aviv, which killed 10 Israelis, in 1975; the blowing up of a truck bomb in Jerusalem in 1975; the killing of Albert Levi, the senior sapper, and his assistant, in Nablus in 1976; the Dalal Mughrabi operation (i.e., bus hijacking), in which more than 37 Israelis were killed, in 1978; the shelling of the Eilat Port in 1979; the Katyusha fire on the northern settlements [in Israel] in 1981..."

At a Fatah event in January this year, Abbas praised Abu Jihad and other terrorists who killed hundreds as "the blessed Martyrs" and "the leaders of all the fighting forces":

"We renew the promise to our blessed Martyrs, that we will follow the path of the Martyr Brother Yasser Arafat and his comrades among the leaders of all the fighting forces, all the Martyrs. Among them, I mention Martyr Abu Jihad..."
 

Private organizations also follow the lead of the PA and glorify terrorist Abu Jihad, such as sports organizations that name their activities and tournaments after him. This year the Palestinian Association for Martial Arts held "its first Prince of Martyrs [Abu Jihad] festival" and the Palestinian Boxing Association held "The Martyr Abu Jihad Tournament."

Abbas urges EU firms to boycott settlements

As Kerry, Netanyahu meet in Rome, Palestinian president calls on EU to boycott settlements. 'Such activities are a violation of international law,' Abbas says

Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday urged European and other foreign companies not to deal with businesses based in Jewish settlements.

"I call on European companies and foreign companies doing business in the settlements to put an end to their activities," he said after a meeting with European Council president Herman van Rompuy in Brussels

"Such activities are a violation of international law," he said.

Abbas said such a boycott would not be aimed at the state ofIsrael but only targeted at Jewish settlements on occupied Palestinian land in the West Bank and east Jerusalem.

A UN rights expert has singled out several major international firms – including Motorola, Hewlett Packard, Veolia, G4S and Volvo Group – for their involvement in building and maintaining settlements.

Several European retail giants also import produce from the West Bank, which is home to large farms producing fruit, vegetable and flowers.

Earlier Wednesday, US Secretary of State John Kerry and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in Rome and spoke as they began talks that were also expected to cover Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations but appeared likely to be overshadowed byIran.

Abbas: No Security Guarantees Regarding Hamas

While Justice Minister Tzipi Livni seeks to earn her Nobel Peace Prize by giving away portions of Eretz Yisrael, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) is announcing the limitations of any security guarantees given by the PA (Palestinian Authority).

Speaking with German media, the PA leader first hints at an atmosphere of optimism, denying reports that the talks with Israel have hit a "dead end".

He then added "There is not a country in the world that does not have a political option" but regarding Israeli requests that the PA control Hamas terrorism, he admits the PA's control over Gaza is limited at best. 

Hence, Livni is moving ahead as fast as the PA will permit to reach a final status agreement knowing full well the terrorism that plagues much of the country will remain unresolved. This is based on the assumption that Abu Mazen will control terror based in his areas, which to date has yielded very limited results. The burden of preventing terrorism in Yehuda and Shomron remains in the hands of the IDF, ISA (Israel Security Agency - Shin Bet), border police and other Israeli agencies.

Abu Mazen adds that any agreement reached with Israel will have to be approved by PA residents in a national referendum. He accuses Israel of taking the talks from the realm of the political to the realm of religion, referring to Israeli demands regarding eastern Yerushalayim.

There is no shortage of figures who consider themselves appropriate candidates to serve as deputy president -- including Marwan Barghouti, jailed for five life sentences for his role in terror attacks.

Over the past few months, a succession battle has been quietly raging in the Palestinian Authority [PA].

This behind-the-scenes battle is continuing even as the PA leadership conducts secret peace talks with Israel.

In fact, the U.S.-sponsored peace negotiations have served as a catalyst for increased calls by senior PLO and Fatah officials to start planning for the day after Mahmoud Abbas's departure from the scene.

Like his predecessor Yasser Arafat, the 78-year-old Abbas has been running the PA in an autocratic fashion since his election as president in January 2005.

And like Arafat, Abbas has since managed to keep many of his critics silent by providing them with funds, luxurious offices and vehicles, secretaries, bodyguards and assistants.

Many senior members of the PLO and Fatah, for example, each receive from Abbas tens of thousands of dollars every month to enable them to cover the costs of office rentals and vehicles, as well as salaries for their secretaries and henchmen.

Still, the funds have not been able to buy Abbas 100% quiet.

His controversial decision to resume peace talks with Israel several weeks ago has prompted a number of Palestinians to talk about the need for Abbas to end his autocratic rule.

It is worth noting that Abbas decided to return to the negotiating table with Israel shortly after most members of the PLO Executive Committee voted against the move.

Since then, Abbas has been facing increased calls to appoint a deputy president of the Palestinian Authority as a way of limiting his powers.

At a recent meeting of the Fatah Central Committee, one official, Tawfik Tirawi, did not hesitate to bring up the subject in the presence of Abbas.

Tirawi, a former security commander in the West Bank, proposed that Abbas appoint jailed Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti as deputy president. Barghouti is serving a five life-term prison sentence for his role in terror attacks against Israelis during the second intifada.

Fatah officials said that Abbas did not comment on the idea.

Palestinian sources said that there is no shortage of figures who consider themselves appropriate candidates to serve as deputy president.

They include: Jibril Rajoub, a former security commander, Mohammed Shtayyeh, a former minister and member of the Palestinian negotiating team with Israel, Saeb Erekat, the chief PLO negotiator and Nabil Sha'ath, a former PA foreign minister.

Those who want Abbas to appoint a deputy are actually telling the PA president that they are fed up with his continued refusal to share powers or consult with others about crucial matters such as the peace talks with Israel.

Abbas's critics often complain that he is keeping most PLO and Fatah officials in the dark regarding the ongoing peace talks.

There are only three Palestinians who know what is really happening inside the closed room where the talks are taking place: Abbas, Erekat and Shtayyeh.

Abbas has justified his refusal to brief PLO and Fatah officials on the content of the negotiations by saying that the U.S. Administration has prohibited the Palestinians and Israelis from talking in public about the issue.

But the peace talks with Israel are only one of the things criticized by Abbas's opponents.

Several PLO and Fatah officials have recently been talking about the need for "leadership change." They maintain that it is time for the Palestinians to start thinking of replacing Abbas's old-guard regime with young and fresh leaders.

However, as of now Abbas, whose term in office expired back in January 2009, has shown no sign that he is willing to accept the principle of power-sharing. The battle for succession is therefore likely to intensify in the coming weeks and months, casting a shadow not only over his regime, but also the peace talks with Israel.

Abbas feeling so at home in the EU

Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel met with President Mahmoud Abbas of the PA in Berlin Friday and both called on Israel to restrain its settlement activities, which she said were 'jeopardising' the newly renewed peace talks with the Palestinians.

This comes after a wave of violence and terrorist murder against Israel which the German president obviously never mentioned. 

For instance the two Israeli soldiers murdered recently might have dampened things a bit if she uttered a word about it, or worse still the attempted murder of a 9 year old Israeli child recently by her Palestinian friends might have 'upset the apple cart' so-to-speak.

But no, as per usual with European leaders and now recently with the US, it's a case of listening to the 'Palestinian' point of view to appease their Muslim voters and appear 'politically correct' to a left wing liberal anti Israel press.

Israeli opinion again, as usual, has been ignored. Reason and common sense pushed to one side. The above mentioned violence brushed over and the recent threats of more violence by Hamas and terror groups on the West Bank, including threats of murder, kidnappings and riots, all this wasn't brought up by anyone during the Merkel and Abbas meeting. 

No, instead it was all a case, yet again, of listening to the demands of the worlds professional whiners and complainers, not to mention terrorist funders and serial offenders of international law. As per usual with appeasers it was all a case of ignoring a genuine democracy, a nation that is an ally in the war against terrorism and world slavery, to appease a fake people whose soul aim isn't justice, but the destruction of that genuine democracy.

Merkel also vowed to provide continued financial support to the  'cash-strapped' Palestinian Authority, forgetting the fact that Israel provides financial support, and a lot of it. 

Israel provides also food and medicine to the PA, tonnes and tonnes of it, not forgetting Gaza where it brings in tons of food, medicine; supplies water, electricity  to the Arabs there and its Israel that effectively keeps people alive in these places, as well as risks it's soldiers lives protecting not only Jews and Christians on the West Bank but also arab Muslims.

Merkel is very freely announcing to give out money, as do many other gullible western leaders, including the US, where Obama recently very generously gave over $4 Billon of US tax payers money to 'help with the Gaza economy'.

But it would be interesting to see where all this money actually ends up? 

It's a fact that none of the Obama money helped, as will neither the German money. On the contrary its been discovered that all these goodwill gestures just benefit the grinding mills of hate because much of the US tax payers and German tax payers hard earned coffers end up in the hands of terrorists organisations instead of going towards medicine and provisions.

Merkel stated during her meeting with Abbas that the Palestinians had "made an up-front concession by suspending efforts for unilateral recognition at the United Nations and Israel should match the concession by restraining settlement construction".

So there we have it. Does Merkel really, for one second believe that this so called 'concession' will last? Surely by now these gullible western politicians have twigged that the Palestinian politicians are using their gullibility? 

But no, it seems there's no end to naivety and these sheep just carry on swallowing bucketfuls of lies and so called 'concessions' and then once Israel gives in and loses its lands, like it did Gaza in 2005, and the so-called concessions are forgotten by the good willed Palestinians, then suddenly everyone's looking the other way.

Because as soon as a deal is struck and Israel moves again from its own land and agrees to stop building settlements on its own land, you all see how fast the so-called Arab concessions last. 

Suddenly a demand for international recognition of Palestinian identity will be demanded and the drive, not to a 'Two state solution' but the 'One state, a one Palestinian state' solution will pick up gear. 

Despite being targeted with Rockets and bombs Israel to allow morebuilding materials into Gaza

350 trucks of cement, steel and concrete for private projects will be allowed into Strip for the first time since 2007.

Despite being the target of rockets fire from inside Gaza, Israel still plans to allow building materials meant for private projects into the Palestinian Gaza Strip for the first time in six years, an Israeli defense official said on Tuesday.

Gaza has been struggling with a shortage of building materials due to the terrorists attacks which has worsened since July, when the Egyptian military began a sweeping crackdown on tunnels   used to smuggle goods and weapons from Egypt into the neighbouring Palestinian enclave.

An Israeli defense official said that 350 trucks of cement, steel and concrete will cross into Gaza weekly and will deliver the materials to private hands for the first time since 2007.

Israel imposed a blockade on Gaza in 2007 after its enemy, Islamist group Hamas, seized control of the territory in a brief civil war with Western-backed Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah party and has given the nod to attacks against Israel ever since. 

Under international pressure, Israel began to ease the blockade in 2010 and allowed international aid agencies to import construction material. It further eased restrictions at the end of last year.

As expected Gaza economist Maher Al-Tabba said the Israeli move was not enough to end the shortages. "The quantities of steel and cement to be allowed is a good start but it will not meet the needs. Gaza Strip needs double these quantities," he said.

It obviously never crossed this 'economists' mind that if he whispered in Hamas's ear and the attacks against Israel stopped, then there obviously wouldn't be any more shortages. But obviously this never crossed his mind.

The Israeli defense source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that Israel's decision followed a request by Abbas.

Abbas and Israel restarted peace talks in July after a three-year hiatus. Hamas rejects peace with the Jewish state and has fought clashes with it several times in the past few years. The Hamas charter calls for the destruction of the Jewish State and regularly Israelis are at the receiving end of rocket attacks, bombs and horrific murders against women and children. 

But despite all this it's always Israel who has to make the concessions and put its own security at risk even more to please the PA not forgetting the liberal western media.
