As Kerry, Netanyahu meet in Rome, Palestinian president calls on EU to boycott settlements. 'Such activities are a violation of international law,' Abbas says
Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday urged European and other foreign companies not to deal with businesses based in Jewish settlements.
"Such activities are a violation of international law," he said.
Several European retail giants also import produce from the West Bank, which is home to large farms producing fruit, vegetable and flowers.
Earlier Wednesday, US Secretary of State John Kerry and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in Rome and spoke as they began talks that were also expected to cover Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations but appeared likely to be overshadowed byIran.
