Israel’s Security agency says Israeli Arabs are joining rebel forces in Syria operating with al-Qaeda, and whose training may be used later against Israel.
A disconcerting Shin Bet assessment warns that Arab Israelis are joining rebel forces in Syria and working with al-Qaeda terrorists.
According to the review, submitted to the State Prosecutor’s Office and the Supreme Court, there is a possibility that Arab Israelis who are being trained in Syria may use their knowledge against Israel – both by spreading ideologies and by using intel and military capabilities they’ve learned there
Another danger is that Global Jihad terrorists will gather valuable information about Israel from Arab Israelis.
The review was submitted with an appeal by the State regarding the release of Abed al-Kader Altala, a 26-year-old Tayibe resident who was studying pharmacology in Jordan and attempted to join the jihad movement in Syria.
When he returned to Israel he was arrested and tried for contacting and fraternizing with a foreign agent and unlawfully exiting the country.
In the appeal, submitted by the Justice Ministry’s senior attorney Joey Asch, it was claimed that Altala testified to believing in radical Islamic-Salafist ideology.
Security officials maintain that his actions show commitment to Global Jihad and he should therefore remain in custody.
The appeal quoted the Shin Bet’s review, which describes how warzones in Afghanistan and Syria are used by terrorist organizations to train members and develop ideology and infrastructure.
It also said that Syria is perceived by al-Qaeda to be a pivotal arena where battles to topple the regime are key to the liberation of Jerusalem and Palestine.
GENEVA - Evidence confirms at least eight massacres have been perpetrated in Syria by President Bashar Assad's regime and supporters and one by rebels over the past year and a half, a UN commission said Wednesday.
Calling Syria a battlefield where armed forces are getting away with large-scale murder, the UN commission investigating human rights abuses in Syria said that in each of the incidents since April 2012 "the intentional mass killing and identity of the perpetrator were confirmed to the commission's evidentiary standards." Its latest report Wednesday also notes that the four-member commission is probing nine more suspected mass killings since March. With those, it said, the illegal killing was confirmed but the perpetrator could not yet be identified. In other cases, it said, the circumstances of the killing were not sufficiently clear to be able to determine the legality. "Relentless shelling has killed thousands of civilians and displaced the populations of entire towns. Massacres and other unlawful killings are perpetrated with impunity," the commission concludes. "An untold number of men, children and women have disappeared. Many are killed in detention; survivors live with physical and mental scars of torture. Hospitals and schools have been bombarded." The report updates the commission's work since 2011 to mid-July, stopping short of what the United States says was an Aug. 21 chemical weapons attack on rebel-held areas that killed hundreds of civilians. Since the commission has not yet been given permission to carry out its work in Syria, the information in the latest report was based on interviews conducted in the region and from Geneva, including via Skype and telephone. The commission said it has carried out 2,091 interviews since September 2011. Most of the information is coming from the 2 million Syrian refugees streaming across the borders into neighboring countries. The commission created by the UN's 47-nation Human Rights Council says both sides have committed heinous war crimes during the 2 ½-year conflict that has killed over 100,000 people. The council is due to take up the report and the commission plans to hold a news conference next week. In a statement accompanying the report, the commission chaired by Brazilian diplomat and scholar Paulo Sergio Pinheiro said most casualties result from unlawful attacks using conventional weapons and any response to end the conflict "must be founded upon the protection of civilians."

Video footage has emerged which shows the moment seven of President Bashar al-Assad's Syrian soldiers are executed on camera by rebels fighting to overthrow the regime.
It has emerged as G20 leaders meet in Russia to debate the dire situation in the war-torn country and will add fuel to the view that the rest of the world cannot actively support rebels who are carrying out atrocities equally as brutal as the troops deployed by President Assad and also it highlights the fact that rather than support and arm these Rebels to rid the world of an equally evil Assad, it would have been and still is, a more logical solution to simply attack Syria with Western Forces and oust Assad that way and thus not turn Syria over to Islamist Rebels, as is the case now.
The soldiers are stripped, bound and pushed to the ground where a number of rebels stand over them pointing guns at their bodies. Some bear vicious injuries on their backs and arms.
Just before they are killed, the ring-leader Abdul Samad Issa - known as 'The Uncle', recites a poem before he fires the first bullet.
'For fifty years, they are companions to corruption', he says. 'We swear to the Lord of the Throne, that this is our oath: We will take revenge.' The horrific scene filmed in April was documented in a video smuggled out of Syria only a few days ago by a former rebel who says he had become horrified by the brutality of the tactics his one-time comrades are using. He gave the footage to The New York Times. Issa is known as 'the uncle' because two of his deputies are his nephews. His former aide, who had the copy of the footage, said the captured soldiers' allegedly had videos of them raping Syrian civilians and looting which led to the execution. Issa requested the execution be filmed so he could show it to donors to help secure more funding. At the end of the footage, the bodies of the soldiers are dumped in a well while one of the gunmen looks into the camera and smiles.
It is believed Issa has the support of around 300 fighters willing to carry out the executions of captured soldiers. The 37-year-old, a trader and livestock herder before the war, formed the group at the start of the uprising using his own money to buy weapons and pay for his own soldiers' expenses.
His father was opposed to President Hafez al-Assad, the father of Syria’s current president, but in 1982, he disappeared. Issa believes he was killed during a 27-day government crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood which sparked his hatred of the government.
Last year, it is believed he was running a training camp in Turkey and gathering weapons, according to the New York Times.
The footage will no doubt cause problems for the U.S. which is considering attacking Syrian forces over its alleged use of chemical weapons against civilians.
Obama, with the complicit aid of David Cameron, have been arming these murderers in the hope the would oust Assad from power, but all they have done is aid another, or should we say, the same evil, but just under another name.
Assad needs to go and rather than waver, find excuses and try to look the other way, all the Western Powers needed to do was accept the dire situation and act. But instead they chose this.
Yesterday, Secretary of State John Kerry spoke of the issue of radicalised rebels which he said made up 15 to 20 per cent of the opposition.
Most of the concerns are centred around two groups which are known to have ties with Al Qaeda - the Nusra Front and the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
Earlier this year, another sickening video showed a rebel leader eating the heart of a captured soldier.
The clip seems to show a man, believed to be the well-known founder of Homs' Farouq Brigade Abu Sakkar, standing over the uniformed corpse in a ditch while ranting against President Bashar al Assad.
Using a knife, the man hacked open the torso and removed two organs before holding them up to the camera and declaring: 'I swear to God we will eat your hearts and your livers, you soldiers of Bashar the dog.'
