Appeasing, weakness and arrogance - Does Israel interfere in theinternal matters of other countries?

In response to reports thatIsrael issued tenders for construction of some 20,000 housing units in the West Bank and east Jerusalem, the White House, stubbornly stated it was against the move.

Surprise surprise.

"We are "deeply" concerned by the latest reports that over 20,000 additional units are in the early planning stages," the White House statement said. "We are currently seeking further explanation from the government of Israel. Our position on settlements is quite clear: We do not accept the legitimacy of continued settlement activity."

Many Israelis feel that this is simply a ploy by the US to keep the peace process on track due to threats from the PA insisting everything goes their way .

The Palestinians threatened Tuesday to appeal to the UN Security Council over Israel's quickening settlement drive in the West Bank and to step up efforts to join UN agencies.

The PA has railroaded this issue since the recent talks began and they've been using the settlements as a stick to beat Kerry into a corner.

In the Tuesday threat the PA stated "In the coming hours, the Palestinian leadership is going to consider appealing to the UN Security Council and seeking membership of international organizations if Israel does not reverse its latest settlement moves," Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erakat told AFP.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Abbas said peace talks would end if Israel does not cancel the new settlement tenders.

In other words if it doesn't go our way we pull out. Is American foreign policy that weak now that it bows to bribery from corrupt organisations and threats?

Earlier that Tuesday, it was revealed that the State of Israel has issued tenders for 20,000 new housing units in the West Bank.
The plans included the disputed E1 area nearMa'aleh Adumim, but the Prime Minister's Office canceled the tender pertaining to E1, stating that "there is no need to pay international prices for a process that does not have great significance."

The United States has harshly criticized Israel's declared plans to pursue construction in the E1 area in the past, labeling it "a pattern of provocative action."

The US criticising of Israel over this matter, as well as other countries, we feel as a contradictory considering the circumstances of history.

Would Israelis demand that all American building projects cease due to the land of the United States originally belonging to the native Indians? Would Israelis demand Britain stops building in the Falklands? Would israelis demand that other countries not build on land due to disputes? No because a) Israel doesn't interfere in other counties affairs, b) because Israel respects other countries sovereignty in internal national matters. And c) Israel has often showed support for the US politically in US foreign policy as it has shown support for Britain's case in the Falklands dispute.

So is it too much to ask that other counties show the same respect?
