Iran attempts stranglehold on Israel's population zones. Latestmeddling since Obama opened nuclear talks
Fresh from opening a new round of talks with the U.S., Iran is now using Hezbollah to tighten its grip over the strategic West Bank, which borders Israel's major population centers.
The Iranian-backed Hezbollah is financing cells of the Al Aqsa Martys Brigades, the so-called military wing of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah organization, according to an informed Middle Eastern security official.
The official said Hezbollah is seeking to gain influence over the Fatah militias so that militants acting independently of Fatah will do the Iran front group's bidding.
The official said Qais Obeid, an Israeli Arab and a grandson of former Knesset member Diyab Obeid, is helping to lead the efforts of Hezbollah’s infiltration of Fatah. Obeid defected to Lebanon and became a senior officer for Hezbollah.
The official further said Hezbollah and Iran's Revolutionary Guard leaders held at least seven meetings with Hamas in recent weeks, including two in Lebanon, in an attempt to reconstitute a common front against Israel.
According to the official, Hamas remained cool to the idea.
It’s just the latest instance of Iranian meddling in the affairs of other countries.
WND reported last month an Iranian cell was caught in Saudi Arabia attempting to provoke a Shiite rebellion against the Saudi kingdom, according to informed Middle Eastern security officials.
The security officials said interrogation of the cell of seven Iranian agents caught in an eastern Saudi province revealed the existence of a second cell in Bahrain also attempting to destabilize the country by plotting a Shiite rebellion.
The security officials stated Saudi Arabia passed information to the Obama administration warning that the U.S. outreach to Iran has already emboldened Tehran to press ahead with a campaign to attempt to weaken moderate Arab regimes that are U.S. allies.
